Bitcoin Pizza Day
From Satoshipedia, the Satoshi Mail encyclopedia
Bitcoin Pizza Day marks 22 May 2010, when Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 bitcoins for two pizzas, worth about $41 at the time.[1] It was the first known commercial transaction using bitcoin, later celebrated as Bitcoin Pizza Day.[2]
A few days earlier Satoshi had written to Hanyecz asking him to slow down his GPU mining, which was earning him far more coins than CPU miners could (the email).
