Laszlo Hanyecz
From Satoshipedia, the Satoshi Mail encyclopedia
Laszlo Hanyecz is a programmer who on 22 May 2010 paid 10,000 bitcoins for two Papa John's pizzas, the first known commercial transaction with bitcoin (Bitcoin Pizza Day).[1]
Development
Hanyecz ported the client to Mac OS X; Satoshi's release notes for version 0.3 list “Mac OS X version (thanks to Laszlo)” (the 0.3 announcement). He posted on the forum as laszlo.
GPU mining
He was also mining with a graphics card. In May 2010 Satoshi asked him to hold back, arguing that GPUs would concentrate new coins among a few people too early: “I don't mean to sound like a socialist, I don't care if wealth is concentrated, but for now, we get more growth by giving that money to 100% of the people than giving it to 20%.” (the email). The email later surfaced in a Reddit thread, the source of nakamoto-archive's copy.[2]
